Quinnterview: Billy West

Quinnterview: Billy West

Billy West has been performing voice acting since around the time he joined The Howard Stern Show in the early 90’s, where he was a castmember and impressionist. He left the radio show in 1995 and ventured to Los Angeles with out knowing what exactly he would do. Soon enough, he found success as an in-demand voice actor and performer.

West’s first two notable roles came in sync with one another: Doug and Ren & Stimpy, which happened to be two of the first three original Nicktoons, with the other being Rugrats. West has also had a high-profile movie application of his voice for the characters Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd in the popular movie Space Jam. He also has a number of voice credits in commercial television with such characters as “Red”, the plain milk chocolate M&M, and BuzzBee from the Honey Nut Cheerios advertisements.

However, West’s more long lasting contribution has been to the show Futurama, where he voices four popular characters: Professor Hubert Fransworth, Dr. Zoidberg, Zapp Brannigan, and Philip J. Fry. He also does countless voices for the shows incidental characters. So much so, that the crew has stated he is voicing so many characters all through the series that conversations will end up being held between these characters he’s voicing!

Also, Futurama is starting its final season with the premiere being tonight at 10/9c only on Comedy Central. It’s going to be a 13 episode long season with celebrity guests that include Larry Bird, Emilia Clarke, George Takei, Adam West, Burt Ward, and Dan Castellaneta. So be sure to check out Futurama tonight with Billy West doing what he does best and also have a listen to the spectacular interview he gave us above!
